Required Investment Calculator

Our Required Investment Calculator helps you calculate the amount you need to invest regularly to reach your target asset base for financial independence. Jump to calculator.

How it works

Once you have used our Financial Independence Calculator to determine the asset base required, this tool calculates how much you should invest consistently to hit your goal.

It considers your current investable assets, including superannuation, and determines the annual investment required to stay on track.

Existing Assets

Your existing assets are factored into the calculator as you have likely already begun your journey to financial independence. This includes both superannuation and investment assets held outside of super. You can specify different return rates for each.

Super contributions

Since super is a compulsory savings mechanism in Australia, the calculator factors in estimated future contributions, adjusting the required investment outside of super accordingly.

Insurance premiums

Where there are insurance premiums funded from your superannuation, this will detract from your super balance. Therefore, the calculator accounts for this, ensuring the calculations remain accurate.
